The laid back pair have managed to drum up enough support from a plethora of generous local businesses to stage another Postie Bike Bash.
On Thursday, May 12 a group of 32 riders aboard their humble postie bikes, and nine support crew, will leave Singleton from the Agi Hotel to embark on a 3300 km charity ride.
They will hopefully return unscathed on Saturday, May 21 to the Caledonian Hotel at about 12.30pm.
The journey will take in remote locations like Lightning Ridge, Bourke, and Nindigully and all at the top speed of 90km per hour.
In 2014 their first effort, and associated events, saw a massive $40 000 raised for Cystic Fibrosis.
But this time around they will be splitting the money raised three ways.
Skillo says two families he knows are doing it tough and he had to do something to help.
“We are going to donate money to Lily Bodiam and Brad Connolan,” he explains.
“And the rest will go to Cystic Fibrosis.”
Skillo explains Lily is a local girl who has been diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease and his old friend, Brad is about to undergo treatment for a rare spinal cancer.
“No one who as been diagnosed with this has survived.”
“He is about to travel to Melbourne for a series of treatments at $1500 a dose so if you can’t help a mate,” Skillo’s voice trails off.
During the ride the boys will collect as much money as they can at each stop via raffles, and a collection tin.
But already five hundred dollars from each riders entry fee goes straight towards the final fundraising tally.
Skillo says locals can also still buy a ticket in the postie bike being raffled at the Caledonian Hotel.
“It will drawn this Saturday and the winner gets free entry into the bash,” he says.
And, this is sure to be quite an adventure with a lap of Bathurst planned, a trip down a mine shaft at Lightning Ridge, and a stop at Wellington to explore the caves.
“However, none of this would be possible without the support of our sponsors,” Skillo says.
“There are so many; everyone has chipped in and have given up heaps of their time to fix up trailers and our truck.”
