“We should be a Nundall by lunch time for a beer and a feed,” says one of the organisers, Craig ‘Skillo’ Skillen.
Everyone was keen to get moving when The Argus caught up with well-prepared riders before they departed at about 8pm.
One very excited rider was Louise Lightfoot, who is using the bash as a way of celebrating her 50th birthday.
She is one of a number of Cessnock riders taking part in the bash.
Unlike the inaugural bash where most riders were locals, this year there are entrants from all over the country.
Nitro attributes this to advertising the ride at the Australian Postie Grand Prix held in Cessnock last year.
This time around there will also be more beneficiaries of this charity event.
In 2014 their first effort, and associated events, saw a massive $40 000 raised for Cystic Fibrosis.
But this time around they will be splitting the money raised three ways.
Skillo says two families he knows are doing it tough and he had to do something to help.
“We are going to donate money to Lily Bodiam and Brad Connolan,” he explains.
“And the rest will go to Cystic Fibrosis.”
Skillo explains Lily is a local girl who has been diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease and his old friend, Brad is about to undergo treatment for a rare spinal cancer.
