Organisers said the day was fantastic with plenty of visitors and a great atmosphere. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise their contributions to our society.
The Singleton NAIDOC Planning Committee is looking forward to the week. Other events include a free Cultural and Heritage tour visiting significant Aboriginal culture sites in the Upper Hunter sponsored by Glencore. Guided by Glenn Morris, the tour will visit the Baiame caves, Yengo National Park and Finchley lookout, where lunch will be provided.
A bus will depart the Singleton VIEC car park at 8am and the tour is expected to conclude by 2:30pm. Anyone interested in joining the tour must register. Bookings need to be received before July 7. Contact Michelle Hunter 4925 6482
