The club is well-represented across all age groups – U12’s, U13’s, U14’s, U15’s, U16’s – after impressing at recent trials.
Junior rep co-ordinator Jason Barry says Singleton continues to produce talented players, and this season we have certainly made our mark not only in Hunter Valley, but also Bradman and Kookaburra cup trials.
“This year in the Kookaburra cup trials we have Beau Parnell, Tom Druery and Mick Taylor, and in the Bradman cup, Jack Turner and Isaac Barry,” he explains.
“I am very proud of all the players that have been selected to represent Hunter Valley and those that will trial for the next level.”
The Kookaburra Cup is an annual U14’s competition between each country zone across the state: North Coastal, Central Northern, Western, Newcastle, Central Coast, Illawarra, Riverina and Southern.
Whereas, the Bradman Cup in the Under 16 version.
2016/17 Hunter Valley Representatives:
- U12’s: Joseph Druery, Abbott Stacy and Alex Staffa, this is their first taste of playing at this level and the boys will tour Lismore in January 2017;
- U13’s: Ethan Van Zyl;
- U14’s: Tom Druery, Beau Parnell and Mick Taylor, will tour Newcastle in January 2017 but prior to this will trial for the Kookaburra Cup against Northern Inland. Their first match is on November 13 in Scone, and the second on November 20 at Tamworth. Last season both Parnell and Druery were selected in the Central North Zone academy side;
- U15’s: Isaac Barry and Jackson Shade will tour Maitland in January 2017 and Barry will take part in Bradman Cup trials;
- U14’s/U15’s combined squad: Andrew Knox, Alex Holz and Samuel Holz will tour Armidale in January 2017;
- U16’s: Jack Turner will also trail for the Bradman Cup, this team will be playing matches against Northern Inland on Friday, November 13 in Scone, and the second game is scheduled for November 20 at Tamworth.
