And, this is why the ABCRA sanctioned competition is now a stand alone event and not held on the same weekend as the annual show.
All the action kicked off on Saturday with the Yancoal Maiden Draft and there was $1500 up for grabs.
Niangala local, Ned Clarke on Firefly, ended up taking home the prize money.
Hailing from Harpers Hill, Grant Whatham on Salute won the Yancoal and NAB Open draft.
While the Entire Concrete and Farmers Warehouse Novice draft was won by Adam Sadler on Jewel.
On Sunday the program saw the ladies line up for the Rodney Gardner Transport and NAB Ladies Draft with Kerri Mitchell taking home first place on Heartbreak.
Then it was time for the youngsters to saddle up in the Todd Howlett racing sponsored Juvenile and Junior drafts.
The winners were Claudia Atfield on Kitten and Lachlan Sansom on Cass.
Miaview Stockhorses Cut Out was won by Mikayla Edwards riding Acres Liberty Beau.
Conveyor, Mark McNamara, says it was another successful weekend with around 780 people in attendance and many turned up on Friday to set up camp at the showgrounds.
“With the finals and kids we had around 750 runs,” he says.
“But the event wouldn’t go ahead without the sponsors and cattle donors.”
He would like to acknowledge the major sponsors Yancoal and NAB and the local cattle donors: P&B Nichols, Ken and Sue Sylvester, John and Ed Binnie, John and Julie Moore, Rodger Tudor, Max and Robin Wake, Grant and Michelle Whatham, and John and Alison Redgrove.
Yancoal Mount Thorley Warkworth and Hunter Valley Operations general manager, Jason McCallum, says they were pleased to partner with Singleton Show Campdraft.
“The Campdraft is a great way to bring the community together to showcase local and regional talent in a family friendly environment,” Mr McCallum says.
“It is important to us to support events that help contribute to building a stronger and more vibrant community.”
Mr McNamara adds the committee would like to thank everyone involved for their sponsorship, support and contributions over the weekend and we look forward to another successful year in 2018.
