The two dedicated volunteers are hanging up the reins as they both head into retirement in 2018.
For Ms Ellis, the local Op Shop has been a part of her life for the past 29 years.
Just one year after the store was established, Ms Ellis started as a volunteer and she hasn’t stopped since.
For her, volunteering was a fantastic way to give back and to be involved in a wonderful social environment.
Her time at the charity saw her become a jack of all trades, from sorting and sewing clothes to making delicious jams and pickles. With almost three decades of service under her belt, Ms Ellis has a wealth of knowledge which has proved invaluable for other members learning the ropes.
She says there have been plenty of highs and lows over the past 29 years, but she has loved every bit of her time at the shop.
For Ms Williams, the journey at the local charity began some 14 years ago, when a friend asked her to become a volunteer.
After taking up the offer, she took charge of the front counter and soon become a regular friendly face.
Her vibrant personality and way with customer service saw her excel in the role, becoming well known to many people who frequented the store.
“I’ll miss talking to the customers and having that social interaction with them ,” Ms Williams said.
“But I’ll still pop in to visit every now and then.”
On behalf of the Op Shop Charity Singleton, and the Singleton community, we thank both Ms Ellis and Ms Williams for their dedication, passion, enthusiasm and mostly importantly, their wonderful service over the years.
