The John Bull Shield team accounted for its rivals, by 10 runs, at Howe Park while the Second Division side prevailed by six wickets at Cook Park 3.
In the feature clash, the hosts slipped to 5-60, despite the efforts of Greg Thrift (29) and Jacob Carey (16).
However, Myles Cook and Daniel Storey stepped up to the plate.
The pair put on an 82-run sixth wicket stand, which lifted the hosts.
Storey departed for 39, while Cook smashed 80 – an innings that included a couple of sixes and 10 boundaries.
A late cameo by Nic Stokes enabled Singleton to post 240.
Tim Goldman was the pick of the bowlers, capturing 5-47.
In reply, Cessnock began brilliantly, much to the dismay of the locals.
Openers Joe Butler and Jason Varoxis combined for 170 before the former was run out on 102.
His dismissal, and that of his partner for 80, triggered a major collapse.
Within the blink of an eye, Cessnock slumped to 8-230.
Again, it was that man Cook, who caused the trouble.
He snared 3-52, while Josh Harvey chipped in with 3-30.
In the Second Division fixture, Cessnock managed a competitive 161 from its time at the crease.
Jackson Lambkin led the way with the ball, taking 3-40. He was well-supported by Josh Shade (2-10) and Sam Barry (2-20), who also bagged a double hat-trick on Saturday.
Singleton started its campaign poorly, being 3-0, after losing Max Willis, Karl Bowd and Jacob Hill cheaply.
But, Clint Harman and Pete Mills steered the ship in the right direction.
Even after Harman fell for 32, Mills remained unbeaten on 106.
Aided by Jarrod Campbell (12 not out), Singleton triumphed in the 28th over.
On the home front, all grades returned to action on Saturday.
Creeks crushed JPC at Howe Park on the back of another big batting performance from Chad Solman.
The powerful opener blasted 65 in the team’s total of 4-217.
Steve Unicomb (43), Cook (33), Gavin Wake (32 not out) and Jacob Hill (26 not out) also contributed.
JPC could only muster 8-111, with Jack Turner posting 38.
In the remaining T20 showdown, PCH/Glendon overpowered Valley at Cook Park 3.
Jackson Cox (51), Daniel Oldknow (48) and Pat Denniss (45 not out) led PCH/Glendon to 6-169.
Valley then faltered on 134, with Carey (43) and Storey (32) among the runs.
