The event will host contestants from the Hunter, Newcastle, the Morisset and Lake Macquarie area and the Central West region.
Showgirls including Singleton’s very own Abbie Caelli will be interviewed by judges Bob Robertson, Ellie O’Hara and Andrew Marshall before taking part in a luncheon and formal dinner.
“I’m looking forward to zone,” Abbie says.
“It will be great to meet some other amazing like-minded women, although I am quite nervous.
“Being Showgirl has been the most amazing experience so far and with so much more to come.”
The ladies will be judged on personality, confidence, ambition, general and rural knowledge as well as how they present themselves throughout the day.
Prior to this weekend’s big event, contestants were invited to attend the Polish Works Standout Showgirl Retreat in the northern NSW New England town of Glen Innes.
Designed to help the women understand the criteria of the showgirl competition, the retreat covered health, nutrition, fashion, speech making, make-up and general advice in grooming and presentation.
The Zone competition is held annually, though this is the first time Singleton has had the pleasure of hosting the event in many years. Making the event all the more special is the fact that 2018 also marks the Singleton Northern Agricultural Association’s (NAA) 150th anniversary, an exciting milestone for past and present members.
The competition will be held at the Singleton Showground on Saturday, February 24.
