The Hunter Rural Multicultural Network led by the Northern Settlement Services Ltd held their first Rural Multicultural Expo on Thursday 20th September from 10am – 1pm at The Corner of Bathurst & Pitt St Singleton youth venue, Singleton.

The Multicultural Expo was set up to support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) individuals and communities in the Hunter through information on services available to assist them.

The Expo is a way of connecting with our local CALD communities, ensuring they have the knowledge of the support services available to them. This builds stronger communities and better settlement outcomes. This year the Expo theme is belonging in the Hunter Valley.

A scrumptious, free feast was put on by the Singleton Rapid Relief team who have recently been very busy due to helping with drought relief. 

The event provided information from services including Health, Education, Training and Volunteer pathways as well as Human services.

Multiple organisations/services from across the Hunter Valley set up information stalls at the youth venue. Some of the organisations included the Singleton neighborhood center, government stalls including NSW justice and NSW multicultural police, St. Vincent de Pauls, the University of Newcastle and many more. 

“The Expo provides a perfect opportunity to provide face to face contact with the local CALD community members and, in turn, fosters awareness of the services available to them in The Hunter Valley.” explains event organiser Lulu Tantos.
