Though the final against Queensland was shortened (from 50 to 20 overs per innings) the ACT-NSW side would still do enough to hold off their opponents by four wickets.
Former Singleton junior Glenn Winsor claimed the opening wicket of the morning when dismissing the Queensland captain Angus Lovell (nine runs).
Winsor then caught out prominent Queensland junior Ben Maynard (11) only moments later as the title to add confidence to his side’s campaign.
A five and a half hour rain delay would then force the sides off the field leaving Queensland on 2-46 after the ninth over.
As play resumed the Queenslanders gathered some more momentum via the agency of Corey Hunter (37 runs) and Lachlan Prince (16).
However their final score of 7/124 would be enough for the ACT-NSW Country side to chase (finishing with 6/133).
Blake Nikitaras prroved to be the star for the winners when taking 15 off the first over before he finished with 27 while former Singleton junior Winsor added three before he was run out.
This afternoon’s victory marked the first time the ACT-NSW Country side had taken out the tournament title since NSW broke into two sides prior to the 2014-15 summer.
The final result was a relief for the side’s officials considering they had finished runner up in two of the past three tournaments.
