The junior will represent her club in multiple events this coming April after recording two personal best times in Sydney this weekend to the delight of club officials (see video).
“She’s doing very well and ended up tenth in the final last night so we’re all very proud of her,” club official Karen Earnshaw explained.
“Her (200m Backstroke) final swim wasn’t quite as good as the heat swim but I think the pressure was off a bit once she got that time.”
O’Bryan was among six club members to record personal best times on Friday afternoon (see full story).
The 13-year-old then mastered her craft in the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:37.21 (in comparison with her 2:41.32 effort at the Coast and Valley tournament).
She will be joined at the 2019 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships by fellow Singleton teenager Elliott Earnshaw.
The 17-year-old has qualified for his fourth national campaign in a variety of events including 100m Breaststroke (where he finished sixth with a time of 1:08.85).
Mackenzie Gray (200m Freestyle) and Alice Small (200m Breaststroke) are also a chance to qualify for Adelaide pending the results of their respective events.
The duo also joined forces with O’Bryan and Jemma Earnshaw to record a time of 2:11.29 4x50m Medley Relay on Sunday night (see video).
“They’ve beaten some fairly competitive clubs to finish 12th and they also recorded another personal best time in this event,” Earnshaw added.
“There were a total of 40 clubs in the event so we’re very proud of the girls’ team performance.”
