The aim of the ride is to raise awareness and support for Ovarian Cancer, which is one of the biggest killers of women, and to also raise money for Mid Hunter Pallative Care, a local charity working out of Singleton Hospital.
The ride is held in honour of Gerard’s sister Jennifa Barnett who sadly passed away from Ovarian Cancer in 2010.
Traditionally the ride has taken place in February to Nundle however in order to combat the heat this year’s ride is taking place on Saturday March 23 and heading to The Linga Longa at Gundy.
The ride kicks off at 7am where everyone plans to meet at The Happy Grillmores Café car park on the highway (enter in through the gate and park around the back of the café).
There will be tea and coffee for sale there as well as bacon and egg rolls.
Leaving at 9am, the ride then heads to The Linga Longa Hotel at Gundy for a gourmet barbeque lunch. The sea of bikes and cars creates a spectacular site on the highway with last year there being over 100 participants.
The ride then returns to Singleton will everyone invited to the Albion Hotel for a nice cold drink. Finger food will be served at the Albion and there will be an auction at 7pm and the raffle draw at 8pm.
“Last year’s ride was fantastic and the new venue of The Linga Longa Hotel was great. It’s a great day and a nice easy ride that everyone can manage whether it be beginner or advanced rider. We also had cars follow us up so if you don’t have a bike still please come along and follow us in your car.” explains Gerard.
The cost of the ride is $40 per person which covers the cost of lunch and a donation. Tickets can be purchased from Happy Grillmores Café on the highway or by calling Amanda on 0400 187 269.
“It would be fantastic to see another great role up this year to help us continue to raise awareness and support for Ovarian Cancer and raise much needed funds for Mid Hunter Palliative Care" Amanda tells us. They have had great support in the past and again this year with the generosity of their sponsors:
- Promine
- GB Auto’s
- Happy Grillmores
- Perram and Toohey
- Mallaby Sheet Metal
- Westrac
- Wurth
- Singleton Classic Motorcycle Club
Amanda and Gerard are still looking for auction items so if any businesses would like to donate please contact Amanda on 0400 187 269 or at admin@gahayward.com.au.
