There were some encouraging performances by the youth teams but the only win of the day was recorded by the 17s who beat their city opponents by the odd goal in three.
First grade were unable to break down a resolute Gunners defence and lost by the only goal of the game.
The Strikers had a full first grade squad to choose from as they kicked off under lights and maybe just edged the first half which saw end to end action without any goals to show at either end.
There were some feisty moments as both sides were desperate to keep in touch with run-away leaders Cooks Hill.
With a full moon rising over the golf course both sides had chances when the second stanza got under way but it was the visitors who struck the first blow.
The Singleton defence failed to clear a Cardiff corner and the ensuing goalmouth scramble saw the visitors take the lead.
There was desperation from both sides but there were no further goals making a happy trip home for the visitors.
Both 19s & 23 were again comprehensively beaten.
The 19s are certainly suffering from lack of numbers but why the reserves (23s) are not more competitive is less obvious.
One factor being pointed out, maybe justifiably is lack of numbers at training.
This side is better than the results they are producing.
Brea Wissink made some good saves for the 19s who were only a goal down, from a penalty at half time and were beaten 0-3.
The morning started with the 13s up against a bigger, stronger opponent and were two goals down mid way through the half and could have been further behind but for the keeping of Thomas Pearce.
At the other end and in the middle of the park the diminutive Jesse Shaw was a constant thorn in the South Cardiff defence.
It was however Christian Bentley who pulled a goal back but as the young Strikers strived to equalise they were exposed at the back allowing Southie to shoot into the top corners, too high for any keeper at this age.
Late in the game Damien Staffa found the back of the net making the final score 8-2 to the visitors.
The 14s stunned their highflying opponents when Alex Staffa took and early lead. This was soon equalised by a well worked goal.
This stung Singleton back into action with Billy Moody and Staffa goals taking a 3-1 lead into the break.
Two early goals suggested a good talking to by the Cardiff coach but rather than hitting back straight away the young Strikers were running out of gas and intensity giving the visitors a 6-3 win.
The 15s game also showed the difference in depth of squads but it was Singleton who took the lead when Josh Ihle took an early lead.
At half time the score was one all. Again it was pushing for a retaking of the lead that led to South Cardiff adding a further three goals before Alex Staffa, adding to the two he scored in14s, slotted home to make a the score 2-4.
The 17s have looked like a quality team throughout and after half an hour of end to end play Charlie O'Bryan gave the home side the lead.
Midway through the second half Atticus Sinclair following good lead up work doubled the lead.
This should have put the game to bed especially after a great save by keeper Tyler Morris but a rather contentious penalty put South Cardiff back in the game and lifted their spirits.
Game management became the lesson of the day as the young Strikers closed out the game for a 2-1 win.
The senior washed out game at West Wallsend are being played this week with 19s & 23 travelling on Tuesday and 1st grade the following day.
The week end sees the start of Community Football with Howe Park hosting two Over 35 games on Friday, while the Storm, Singleton's ladies have a bye in the first round of the new Women's Friday Night competition.
The senior sides are at Kahibah on Sunday while the League 1 youth grade sides travel to the same venue on Saturday.
There will be a full programme of junior games at Alroy Oval on Saturday.
