On this occasion, the joy and adrenaline of the competition will be postponed for a minute's silence tomorrow morning in memory of HVORRA (Hunter Valley Off Road Racing Association) members Errol Smith and Olga Heather.
"Errol Smith supported Off Road Racing for many years, generously allowing HVORRA to conduct the Milbrodale Mountain Classic on his property," Mrs Hedley told the Singleton Argus.
"He not only volunteered his time assisting HVORRA, he was very actively involved in the Bulga/Milbrodale community."
"He was also a member of the Rural Fire Service for over 50 years (Group Captain South - AFSM) attending a vast number of fires and emergencies."
Firefighters from as far as Canberra and Lismore journeyed to Singleton to pay their respects to the late Errol Smith, who passed away, aged 76, on January 6 (see story).
"Errol made an impact on every person he made contact with through his infectious smile and generous heart," she continued.
"My husband Ian and I brought Errol Smith and a couple of members from the Sydney club up to the top of the mountain and thought 'yup, this would be a great place for an off road race'.
"That's where it started and 33 years later here we are still going strong.
"We'll also pay tribute to Mrs Heather, who we used to call 'Shorty', because she was also a treasured member who we have recently lost."
"Her and her late husband were both amazing members and they would be here at every working bee to help out where they could."
This weekend's Hedweld Milbrodale Mountain Classic will see 65 entered cars race off the title before an estimated 2,500-3000 spectators across the two day event.
Entry will be $15 per day (children under 12 - free), on site parking is available and profits from the HVORRA will go towards three charities this year (Simply Loving Taylor Incorporated, CanTeen and Witmore Enterprises).
