On Saturday, February 15, a SDCA match will be played for the Black Dog Institute, an organisation that aims to reduce incidences of mental illness and the stigma around it.
The first grade sides will come together at noon at Cook Park 1 to compete on the field, although off it there are a range of activities including a barbeque and raffles planned.
Both clubs are investing in the project, with money set to be donated throughout the fixture for different achievements.
A four or wicket will see $10 donated, while sixes will earn $20.
Glendon Cricket Club president Stuart Daniels said the initiative was something close to the players' hearts.
"We're raising money for the Black Dog Institute," he explained.
"They do a lot of work around men's mental health and the prevention of suicide and awareness of depression.
"It was an idea put together by myself and Max Willis (our secretary).
"And, we decided with the increased incidences of men's suicide that we should do something and raise money for charity."
Valley's Daniel Storey admitted his organisation was "happy to come on board".
"We have a good camaraderie with Glendon," he said.
"Plus, there's more to life than cricket.
"If we can support the Black Dog Institute, and other charities in future years, that's a positive thing."
Several prizes will be raffled off, with the major item being a bat signed by Australian Test, one day and T20 player Mitchell Marsh.
Sunglasses and supplement packs courtesy of OPSM and Australian Sports Nutrition Singleton respectively will be up for grabs, while a voucher to The Grainery Restaurant is available, too.
There will be food and drinks at the barbecue and Daniels is inviting anyone interested in the prizes, cricket or just having a good time for a great cause to come along.
He would also like to thank Grey-Nicolls, SportsPower and club sponsor The Caledonian Hotel for their support with the day.
