Jackson Cox was the first to find the back of the net before he was joined on the scorers list by NPL recruit Joel Barner and Tristan Muir after the main break.
The result was also an improvement on their previous meeting with Mayfield; a 1-1 draw in 2019 (see story).
"A few of the boys were a bit rusty but we're clearing the cobwebs ahead of Round 1," Slade told the Singleton Argus this evening.
"Some of the boys played in different positions as well like Tristan Muir in the midfield.
"Playing in a different formation was great and I thought we controlled the game very well particularly in that second half."
The trial match also enabled fans a sneak peak of new recruits Ben Henry (Toronto Awaba), Marcus Morris and Jack Claire (New Lambton) while Bowen Bagnall and Brad Cox have also continued their return to the club.
