Amanda Hendy was recently appointed to the role of hospital's Clinical Maternity Unit Manager.
Amanda joins the team with six years of service in the Hunter Valley, and an extensive education, including a Bachelor of Midwifery, a Master of Primary Maternity Care, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management. She also completed the Hunter New England Health Emerging Leaders Program in 2018.
Amanda says she is excited about her new role and feels privileged to be a part of each woman's individual journey.
"You really get to know each woman and her family in rural midwifery, our midwives are involved throughout the pregnancy journey, from antenatal care, right through to birth, and in the postnatal period, when families are getting to know their new baby" she said.
"We have a great team of Midwives, Nurses, Student Midwives, Assistants in Midwifery, Midwifery Educators, General Practitioners/Obstetricians and Anesthetists, that all work together to provide the very best maternity care at Singleton Hospital. We are lucky to have such a great, skilled maternity team here locally."
Peter Williams, General Manager, Hunter Valley Sector, welcomed Amanda to the role, and said she will bring a wealth of experience to the role.
"Amanda has been part of the Hunter Valley Sector team for many years, working as the Maternity Unit Manager of Maternity Services in Muswellbrook, and the Clinical Midwifery Specialist in our Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service".
Singleton Hospital continues to provide antenatal, birthing, including caesarean section and postnatal services for the district, with medical support provided by our four local GP/Obstetricians.
The doctors Richard Marshall, Leah Byrne, Tuan Au and Robert Vickers all provide shared antenatal care with the midwives working at the Singleton Hospital.
