The three-day festival at Dashville in Lower Belford showcases some of the best Australian musical acts in a rural bushland setting along with comedy acts, pro-skateboarding, workshops and markets.
Event producer Matt Johnston said they are thrilled to be able to go ahead with this year's Gum Ball after the cancellation of last year's due to COVID-19.
"We are really proud of this year's event, it is everything it is every other year, just at a reduced capacity due to restrictions," said Matt.
"We have been working closely with local police and have had some pretty good feedback in terms of the events we have been running since hosting events again post lockdown."
Dashville reopened its gates in August last year to smaller-scaled, COVID safe events including Dashville nights, which was facilitated through personal party pens instead of an open dance floor to keep patrons at a safe distance from one another.
"These past few events have given us the confidence to move ahead with Gum Ball and it seems like a relatively positive thing in terms of cases within the area."
The three-day festival usually sits at a capacity of around 2700 people, however this year the numbers are halved due to COVID.
"Now that JobKeeper is over, artists need the opportunity to get back performing as this is their livelihood and source of income."
Headlining this year's event is guitar wizard Harts as well as The Beautiful Girls, Emma Donovan and The Putbacks, King Stingray, Cash Savage and The Last Drinks and more.
Also, playing this year's festival is Murray Cook's Soul Movers, which is headlined by the Murray Cook also known as the original Red Wiggle.
"It is actually a pretty positive year in terms of the essence of the festival, we have a special collaboration art work with local Wonnarua woman Debbie Becker which features her portrait of the festival in Wonnarua country," Matt continued.
The Gum Ball 2021 is set to take place at Dashville in NSW's Hunter Valley, going forward from Friday, 16th April - Sunday, 18th April.
"We are very keen to counteract 2020; the year of non-events."
