The Centre, located in Townhead Park, is a much anticipated facility with the neighbouring towns of Maitland and Muswellbrook both boosting a regional art gallery.
Until now art lovers have had to travel out of town to view exhibitions.
The $4.08million gallery was funded in partnership between Singleton Council and a $2.787million Create NSW grant and boasts more than 300 square metres of state-of-the-art gallery space, and two artists' workshops including wet and digital studios.
Fitted with solar panels and rainwater harvesting equipment to enable the watering of the surrounding park and gardens the Centre is described as offering a sustainable development for the community. Work continues outside the Centre to rebuild the adjacent Sensory Garden and toilet block which will complete the Townhead Park redevelopment.
Final touches were being completed at the Centre on Friday before the opening with painting's name tags waiting to be attached.
The first exhibition includes photographs of many familiar faces from the Singleton community - Edwina Richards' 'We Are Singleton: Portrait of a Town' and Debbie Becker's 'Mapping Wanaruah / Wonnarua' both funded by the NSW Government's Resources for Regions Program.
Organisers are hoping for some sunny weather on Sunday so the community can enjoy the special event.
