Started in 1980, the Scone Horse Festival celebrates the Horse Capital of Australia and attracts tens of thousands of people each year from within the region and further afield to celebrate our equine heritage and our community’s pride in all aspects of Australia’s premier equine industry.
Each year the Scone Horse Festival chooses a theme.
This year’s theme is “Horses go to Rio” evoking either a Rio Olympic Games or a Rio Carnival atmosphere – which no doubt will be displayed during the Scone Equine Hospital Festival Parade starting at 11am on Saturday May 7 at Kelly Street Scone.
The Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association and its members, including the Scone Equine Hospital, Godolphin (formerly Darley), Vinery, Coolmore, Inglis, and our sister organization the Australian Stock Horse Society have been and continue to be proud sponsors of the Scone Horse Festival.
Supporting events such as the Festival Parade, the VIP Dinner, the Festival Ball, the Calcutta, Scone Horse Sports, Team Vaulting, Farrier’s Showcase, the Scone Races and the Picnic & Fireworks by Lake Glenbawn wrapping up the festival on May 15.
There is much to see and do during the Scone Horse Festival – including touring our world famous stud farms, coming to the Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale and joining us at the Scone Races which last year attracted some 14,000 people to our region.
So Giddy Up! Frock Up! Look us Up! And Come on Up! to celebrate our world famous equine history and heritage. Its an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed and an experience you will never forget.
