Two near capacity fields fronted over the weekend to compete to find the best Ambrose Pairs team and individual player.
Thanks go to Shaun the green keeper and his many helpers for presenting our course it great condition.
Tournament sponsors Chris Betts and Daniel Bower are congratulated for sponsoring this event for yet another year.
The support of Singleton’s golfing community was evident and the quality of the field was testament to our course’s reputation throughout the district.
Sincere thanks go to our other sponsors; Titleist, Callaway Golf, Savannah Estate and Thomas Tender Meats.
Saturday’s event was a Medley Ambrose Pairs and with so many low markers from around the district competing, the winners came from left field.
Brett Sterritt and Ben Harris produced a score of 64 for a nett of 59.5 to win by less than a stroke from the favourites. Kurt Barnes playing off a handicap of +6 paired with our own in form junior Owen Evans to take out the runners up prize. Kurt plays on the lucrative Japanese tour and had many fans walking the course to see some very impressive ball striking. Their score was 66 nett 60.
Sunday’s main event, the Singleton Open teed off with a near capacity field on the time sheet.
The lowest handicapper in the field (-3) was defending Singleton Open champion Brayden Peterson from the Monash Golf Club. He shot a two over par round of 71 in blustery conditions.
This year we got to crown a new champion. Clayton Small from Long Reef in Sydney shot an even par round of 69 to take home our most coveted prize. Tied on the same score was Matt Farley from the Vintage Golf Club and he was awarded the scratch runner’s up prize.
Matt also won the A grade nett prize for his score of 67. A grade nett runner up went to Peter Eason with 68.
The B grade scratch winner, once again was Rick Janssen with a commendable 80, a score that beat many of the A graders in the field.
