These scenic routes were inspired by the ride's original organiser Ken Dreaper's childhood experience of delivering mail with his father.
From 1958 to 1967 Ken's father had the Mailrun contract in the Scotts Flat, Glendon, Mitchells Flat, Glendonbrook and Westbrook area. He would travel this route six days a week in his Holden car and as a kid Ken would wake early on a Saturday morning and during the school holidays to accompany him.
Once again all the funds raised are again earmarked for Singleton Family Support (SFS).
A local not-for-profit that helps families to become confident and empowered to make positive, independent decisions.
SFS, manager Lindsay Rutherford wanted to especially thank the major sponsor Quarry Mining.
In the five years that Mailrun has donated its proceeds to SFS the organisation has received $141,000.
This money is used to run their supported playgroups that are held each Thursday for young children and their carers who can come-along and enjoy playing and other creative activities while making new friends both for themselves and their carers.
