Support Services across the Hunter are set to benefit from a share of $11,100 this Christmas, thanks to a donation from Hunter Valley Operations (HVO).
The funds will be split across the following charities: Singleton Family Support, Singleton Neighbourhood Centre, Dolly's Dream and Where There's A Will Foundation. HVO will also be donating food hampers to the Singleton St Vincent de Paul.
The money was raised by employees who donated their Christmas Vouchers, as well as COVID vaccination incentive vouchers.
HVO General Manager, Tony Morris said a number of employees and contractors across the operation participated in the donation to support these local services.
"Our employees at Hunter Valley Operations felt it was important to give back this Christmas and support organisations that have helped and continue to help those in need," Mr Morris, said.
"Similar to last year, 2021 has had its challenges and impacted the community and its people in many ways.
At HVO, we're conscious of how fortunate we have been to maintain operations and employment during such a challenging time. To give back to organisations that support the local community is the right thing to do."
Singleton Family Support, a local not-for-profit that has been operating in the Singleton area for over 20 years, provides support for families who may be experiencing challenges.
According to Manager, Lisa Brock, the donation from HVO will be put to good use ahead of the festive season.
"With Christmas on our doorstep many of our families are under additional stress, as finding money out of poverty line finances is near impossible," Lisa said.
"Add to this, the uncertainty and fear a pandemic brings, 2021 has been a very difficult year for all of the families who have engaged for support.
"This amazingly generous donation from the HVO staff is just what we need right now to give families a lift and also hope for the future too be a little less challenging.
"Just yesterday, we were able to offer two families assistance to buy presents for children and some Christmas food goodies, who due to significant family challenges we not in a position to do so at this time.
"Huge gratitude and happy and safe Christmas wishes to the HVO crew from the Singleton Family Support team."
